Praxisfestivalen 2025 - The Palestine Edition will have a specific focus on Palestinian dance. For over a year and a half, we have been witnesses to a livestreamed genocide. Along with an incomprehensible loss of life, we are also witnessing an enormous loss of art and cultural heritage. By inviting Norwegian artists and the general public to engage in encounters and exchanges with Palestinian dance artists, we aim to highlight the rich and diverse dance scene emerging from Palestine. The festival will create a space that can open up questions about which bodies are allowed to come into view and how we can engage with and understand the political within dance as a performing art. The festival will consist of a rich and diverse public programme that includes workshops, performances, screenings, panel discussions and artist talks. Through the festival, we aim to contribute to knowledge exchange amongst the artists and the public by providing artistic experiences and facilitating conversations centered on decolonial embodied practices and thought in Occupied Palestine.
Praxisfestivalen is a festival dedicated to dance as a performing art. The festival is based in Oslo and has existed in various formats since 2010. It has been co-produced by Dansens Hus, PRODA (Professionell dansetrening), SKUDA (skuespiller og danseralliansen) and Praxis Oslo amongst others. The festival has a specific focus on dance as a performing art and the practice of doing and creating dance, and includes workshops, performances, seminars, lectures and public conversations. Over the years, the festival has received support from the Norwegian Arts Council, the Fund for Performing Artists and the City of Oslo. For the 2025 edition of the festival we have all our previous partners onboard, as well as Black Box Theatre and Rom for dans.
